I think this should be done for the 2.2 release. Lauren, should I take this one on? Or was it already implemented but the issue not updated?

Ok, this has been fixed. The whole helical menu will be changing soon to conform to the recon refactoring, but I went ahead and made the old menu hidden if there are no stacks.
