Description

Hi,

Because I'm a moron, I accidentally left user verification on hole targeting last night in leginon, resulting in lost collection time. I already had some targets queued before leginon switched to automatic mode, so I didn't realise until this morning.

I was wondering, to save future users from similar silly errors, if it would be possible to add a status icon (in addition to the current "warning, error, pause" icons) next to the hole targeting or exposure targeting jobs to indicate that user verification is on? Perhaps a nice bright red "U"? :)

This would save forgetful folks like me from having to remember to go into the settings and confirm that user verification is unchecked.

Cheers
Oli

Good idea. I think I will see if I can make the node selection window to change background color when user verification is on or manual focus is on, another common mistake.

Refined the behavior. The warning red square will only show if user verification is on and queue is off since the warning is only for automated run and queuing would have stopped the flow any way. This way, there will be fewer red squares and users are more likely to pay attention when there is one.

works well. Some complained that it is too alarming.

Hi Anchi,

I tried this and it does work well, but the behavior seemed inconsistent... sometimes when I had user verification set at both the exposure and hole levels it only showed a red square on one (even though queuing was off on both).

Personally I would favor consistency over everything else - if user verification is on, the square (or whatever less alarming icon takes its place) should be there, if not, not.

Change the color to orange. Note, I have not seen the incosistency myself.

Hi Anchi, here is a screenshot (well, a photo of the screen!) showing what I mean. You can see that user verification is on, but the orange icon associated with user verification is not visible.

Olive,

Come get me next time when this happens. Maybe by watching the sequence of the event I can figure it out.
