Although the folder (10oct11a) has writing permission it states that it doesn't have them. Maybe because the models folder is not there? Even after manual creation of this folder error remains (drwxrwxrwx 2 moeller ami 6 Oct 13 13:02 pdb/)
ERROR: could not create directory '/ami/data00/appion/10oct11a/models/pdb/pdb1JS8 -10oct13m51'
check folder permissions
tested on ERROR: could not create directory '/ami/data17/appion/09nov02c/models/pdb/pdb1js8-10oct13n07'
check folder permissions as well
