Error using EF service camera

Added by Trishant Umrekar about 2 years ago

Hi,

I am trying to use an energy filtered Ceta ("EF-FalconService") for calibrations requiring a condensed beam. When trying to set a preset, I will initally get the following error in Presets_Manager:
"Preset change failed: cannot set CCD camera to EFCeta"
"Preset changed to 'gr'"
"Navigation unlocking."

If it does get past this, and I try taking an image, I get the following error on the microscope PC from TEM Imaging & Analysis.

"Error during Acquisition. 'The RPC server is unavailable.'"

Is there a workaround for what I am trying to do?

Best regards,
Trishant

Hi Trishant,

To my knowledge, this camera is only available for customer service purposes, and only on the earlier Selectris systems.

Best,

Wim

I have never used "EF-FalconService". Are you doing your Ceta access through TEMAdvanced Scripting (feicam) or TIA module ? Does TUI show the camera as EF-FalconService and that is why you try that ? I don't have a Selectris use case before, so I will need you to give me details like which module you are using to try this.

Are you trying to do beam-shift calibration ? Otherwise why would you need to condensed beam at gr mag ?

One other possible problem is that you wanted to use both Ceta and Falcon through feicam.py TEM Advanced Scripting could not be multi-threaded, so we can only one camera through that API. The way I get around that problem is using tia.py on Ceta.
