More detailed hardware setup requested

Added by Christopher Lilienthal over 10 years ago

Hello,

I have read the 'Minimum Requirements and current NRAMM setup' page and have some more questions... First is the storage, is it a RAID (What level?) with normal 7.2k spinning SATA disks for capacity or the 10 - 15k spinning SAS disks for speed? How does the web server communicate with the storage? Are you using exclusively 1 GbE or do you use 10 GbE in places?

Any and all details would be much appreciated,

Chris

We are currently using RAID-5 with normal 7.2k spinning SATA disks for leginon and frames data and RAID-60 for appion data. The current file server has 2x1 GbE network card, one is connected to processing server switch and the other one is connected to the main switch where web servers are connected too. The web server communicates with the storage through Network File System (NFS) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_File_System.

We have recently installed a new file server with 10 GbE (Dell EqualLogic PS6110E, 10Gb, High Capacity, 7.2K NL SAS Drives 24x 4TB). We did RAID-6 + spare for this new server, but it's not fully tested and utilized yet.
