Communication between the Linux Main and Clients

Added by Mario Borgnia over 10 years ago

Hi Anchi,
I have installed Leginon 3.0 on a Polara with a K2 camera.
This is a 3 computer setup:
- Database, Web, File and Processing servers on a clean CentOS 6.5 system with the Autoinstaller.
- K2 computer (Windows XP 32 bit)
- Polara computer (Windows 8 Server, 64 bit)

Network between the computers is working fine. Firewalls are down.
All three computers are able to launch both start-leginon.py and launcher.py with no errors. Access to the database is working all right.

The Polara computer and the K2 computer are able work together in Leginon. I can launch start-leginon.py in either one of them and see and connect to the other.

I can run start-leginon.py on K2 or Polara and communicate with the client running on the Linux machine (running launcher.py in instrument simulation mode).

THE PROBLEM is that from start-leginon.py in the Linux computre, I am unable to control either one of the instruments. Once I launch the program, the instruments do not appear as options in the Application > Run dialog

One interesting thing is that computer names seem to be converted to lowercase in the windows systems, even though they are all uppercase.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mario
