Installation Documentation?
Added by Patrick Goetz over 7 years ago
Hi -
I'm a linux admin installing leginon/appion on an Ubuntu 16.04 system. The only installation documentation I've been able to locate is this:
http://emg.nysbc.org/projects/leginon/wiki/Link_to_ubuntu
which appears to be very out of date. Is this the only available documentation for doing this installation? The machine is located in a server closet, so doing a graphical installation would be challenging. I'm also leery of an automated install, as I will need to support this system and want to know exactly what is being installed even if there are a number of steps involved.

Hi,
Yes, our up to date documentation is for CentOS 6 only. I did a couple of install on CentOS 7 too. I had hard time installing Ubuntu 16.04 on one of our servers with RAID 1. If you can try it on Ubuntu 16.04 and update the wiki page that would be very much appreciated.
Neil Voss created Docker container for running appion - http://emg.nysbc.org/issues/3549
I've tried it; it's very nice and the quickest way to test drive appion.
Please let me know if you have questions or need more information.
