Web server, database, and reduxd on REHL/Rocky Linux 8

Added by Christopher Lilienthal about 2 years ago

With the the end of life date for RHEL/CentOS 7 set for June 30, 2024 has the web server, database server, and redux server been used or tested on RHEL/Rocky Linux 8?

Hi, Christopher,

Sorry for late reply. We discussed a bit here and tried a few things. We had some attempt on Debian 11 and other modern os. The conclusion is that the python 2.7 and especially wxpython 2.8 that we use there is too hard to compile and get it to work on CentOS8 RHEL/Rocky Linux 8. We'd rather make sure Leginon in python3 is released than creating a way to keep using python 2.7 ones.

See Issue #13685 for progress on an autoinstaller that should work with CentOS 8. Do you prefer Rocky Linux ?

Hi Anchi,

Thank you for the update. We run RHEL here so I'll keep an eye on the issue.
