Tietz versus Olympus camera

Added by Anonymous over 14 years ago

Hello,

We are close to a decision, which camera we will buy for our microscope.

Does anybody have experiences using Leginon together with a Tietz TEMCamF416? Will this work?

Olympus developed a 11 MegaPixel bottom mount camera, which is available for a reasonable price. Any chance to use this together with Leginon?

Leginon is working with our Tietz F415, but I am not sure how similar this is to the F416. Leginon communicates to Tietz cameras through the CAMC4.exe driver. As long as the F416 still comes with CAMC4, then it should be no problem to get it working. You can probably check with your Tietz service representative if they still use CAMC4, and if it is compatible with the F416.

I am not familiar with the Olympus camera. In order to use it with Leginon, it needs to have a scripting interface that allows getting and setting parameters and acquiring an image to an external program. If you can locate any documentation about such an interface, we can help write the binding to Leginon.
