Resubmitting square targets

Added by Bob Grassucci over 13 years ago

We had a user who accidentally left the screen down for a few hours (Dark images). This caused leginon to run through about 60 squares before it was discovered. It did not process the squares further. I checked the square targeting node but none of the squares had the red cross as they should if they were processed. I did not want to hit refresh as this would permanently exclude them or would only the successful squares be marked? Is there a way to cleanly resubmit the holes that were inadvertantly skipped in the same session or would a new session be required? I was also looking for the way to e-mail notify the user as indicated in what's new in 2.X. All I found were pause abort and skip but no e-mail choice. In which version does this appear? Thanks.

The display of targets on the square targeting node will not update to red/done automatically when the squares are finished, but only by clicking the refresh button. If that is clicked, squares targets that are done will be marked red/done regardless of whether the square finished successfully or not. However, you can use the trick: do not refresh the targets, but submit them again while they are still green. Submitting will generate a whole new set of targets. If some of them were successful and you do not want to repeat those, then you can delete (right click) them to remove the green target before submitting. Once a target is red, you can not just click a green target on top of it to do it again, but you could click one pixel away to make it think it is a new target.

For version 2.0 and newer, to have it send email when the intensity is too high/low: Configure your email server and user name in your leginon.cfg. Then in the "evaluate image stats" settings, select any option except "Continue" and also enter your email password if one is required. This is a relatively new feature, so let us know if you have problems with it.

Hi Jim,
What I was looking for is how to differentiate between the squares that have been successful short of examining each parent to child image. In the square targeting node the numbers are not consistent with the resulting images so there is no "easy" way to find them.

I'll give the e-mail notification a try. Thanks.
