Difference between 'automatic' and 'manual' installation
Added by Sonya James about 8 years ago
I'm just looking in to downloading the appion software for the first time and was wondering if I should do the automatic or manual. What do I get with the automatic - will I be able to upload images to it and do partcle picking, alignment (XMIPP) and analysis or is it just to have a go at the software on demo images provided?
Is it a good idea to try this first and then 'upgrade' or just go for the manual installation straight off - what has anyone else done?
Thanks for your help,
Sonya

Sonya, the autoinstaller is a functional installation assuming that you have the resource on that computer to do all non MPI processing. You can upload your own images etc.
If you are integrating it to an existing system and you are familiar with system administration, you can do it manually. It is not a simple installation in the sense that there are many steps.
