Minimum hardware requirements for Leginon system

Added by Prashant Shete over 6 years ago

We are trying to setup as following ways:

1. Windows computer: controlling microscope and camera - Install the python-side Leginon and supporting packages( not sure about the requirements)

2. Linux computer for (MySQL, PHP & Apache web server, file server)

As Anchi Cheng suggested to me
Hi, Prashant,

Please see

http://emg.nysbc.org/projects/leginon/wiki/Minimum_Requirements_and_current_NRAMM_setup/59

Look under
An example of Configure A that includes gpu frame alignment capacity

It shows
- Advanced HPC Mercury GPU408 4U rack mountable workstation
- Dual 2.1GHz 8-core CPUs (16 cores total can run database, webserver, leginon, and very minimal appion processing)
- 128 Gb RAM
- 1 Tb SSD scratch space
- GTX 1050 GPU for graphical display.
- Two GTX 1070 GPU cards (will support real-time frame alignment in counted mode)
- 12 Tb of storage in RAID configuration (will support 3-4 days of data collection)
- 10GB network card to support direct transfer from K2 camera and connection to the scope.

That's huge requirement, again it don't specify windows machine requirements. If anyone could give me minimal hardware requirements, that will be so helpful.

Thanks.

Yes, It is a huge requirement, mainly because of trying to keep up frame alignment during data collection.

The Windows computers is just what comes with your instrumentation. The installation on them is minimal. The main requirement is to have them on the same network with the Linux computer that does most of the work.
