Add Instrument error

Added by Harry Kao over 13 years ago

From the page

http://our.host/myamiweb/addinstrument.php

We successfully added and saved TEM and CCD CAMERA info.

Now, we want to import the instrument using the interface on the top of the page.

The drop down menu for 'From Host:' has only one option, our database server.

The drop down menu for 'Instrument Host:' has 'appion' and 'Tecnai-F30' as options. Tecnai-F30 is our microscope PC.

When we clicked on Tecnai-F30, we received 'Obejct not found! Error 404.

The error page address is

http://our.host/myamiweb/';echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>

Hi, Harry,

First, I would like to know where did you get the instruction on add instrument? We are phasing out the procedure for 2.1 and above, I thought the instruction was not linked to from the wiki any more, even though the page was not deleted. I know it is hard to trace back, but if you happen to know, let us know.

Second, I would like to know why you want to import instruments. Import was for transferring between databases and it requires special setup in config.php. It was made back in the days that we'd like to clone our instruments and calibrations for a cleaner start for workshop or testing etc. We left the option in the page for a long time although there is almost no case that the procedure is needed any more, and, as you discover, probably broken, although I could not repeat your error here on my testing database and web pages.

If you are adding new microscope and/or camera to the database, you should go through only adding instrument part for 2.0 version.

The whole addinstrument.php page was retired in 2.1 version. Leginon will now add the instrument to database according to instruments.cfg in pyscope folder of your microscope pc automatically if it is not already in the database.

Hi Anchi,

I remember going through the 'add instrument' page from the previous installation and just went ahead and repeat the same procedure.

We are adding a new microscope and camera to the database, and I created separate schema for leginondb and projectdb. Not sure if this is necessary in order to avoid confusion.

We are able to see the instrument in Leginon now, after making sure all the ports are open, the hosts files are correct, and network communications are working.

Thank you.

Harry

You don't need to make new projectdb and leginondb when you add new microscope and camera. They are identified by the different instrument hostname (i.e., your 'Tecnai-F30') in the database. All calibrations are tied to the scope and camera pair so there should be no confusion.
