energy filter parameters
Added by @Maria Janssen over 10 years ago
Hi,
I would like to use the energy filter only in exposure mode (ed), not during hole or square targeting. For this I thought I just adjust the parameters in the ed presets menu. However, they do not seem to respond. Since the filter is not integrated in the Tecnai software I can see why the energy filter boxes on the left side of the leginon presets parameter tab will not have any effect. The energy filter boxes under digital camera parameters in this tab should work though? If I manually insert the slit in the gatan software it will be inserted in all presets leginon cycles through, and this I don not want.
How are the energy filter options in leginon supposed to work? (Btw.... I do not get any error messages either).
Thanks,
Mandy

I asked Mario Borgnia about this. Here is his answer:
.... I am using only the K2 on the machine for all operations, which means that I have never tried to do what Mandy is trying. It was complicated enough to deal with the GIF, for us to switch to and from EFTEM mode during collection. We don't do that even in manual mode.
I believe this is how Jian Shi and other in Grant Jensen's group did as well when they put in this option originally.

Ok. ....Sorry for the confusion: the microscope will be operated in EFTEM mode during the entire data collection, so no switching here. It just concerns the slit. Elizabeth Villa told me she inserts the slit in exposure but takes it out during search mode at lower mag in serialEM. Apparently there is an option to do this in serialEM and I wanted to know how to do this in Leginon or if it was possible.
Thanks!
Mandy

Looking at the script, it should be possible to insert and remove the slit. I will look into it when I am in town.
