Leginon on CentOS (RHEL) 7 for remote acquisition computer
Added by Christopher Lilienthal over 7 years ago
Hello,
We need to setup a second remote linux workstation, since we will be using Leginon on two different microscopes, and I was wondering if anyone has any experience running the necessary Leginon programs on CentOS (RHEL) 7? The current remote workstation is running CentOS (RHEL) 6 and is working just fine but I'd rather not setup a new workstation with an old OS.
When I say remote linux workstation, this is the workstation users will use to launch the leginon GUI and connect to the microscope computer and the camera computer.
Thank you

CentOS 7 works fine with the same or similar installation instruction. There are a few problems we encountered with newer versions of supporting packages: fs, cv2 and numpy that CentOS 7 may or may not use. If you run into problems, search Leginon/Appion Issues in this redmine.
MySQL default on CentOS7 may need some work regarding default engine.

You can get my latest install of leginon/appion from docker.
docker pull vosslab/appion-centos7
But it is a complete install with its own database, so you may want to change it to connect your database and file server.
