Hi Jim
I was speaking to someone from FEI who was here to repair our system and he mentioned that for a third party software (Leginon in this case) to communicate with Tecnai it has to do it through TIA (Tem Imaging & Analysis) . Do you have any idea if this is necessary? Do you know if anyone has tried to get leginon to communicate with Tecnai via TIA?

The Tecnai Scripting interface has always worked fine from Python, so we have not tried TIA yet. This may be something we will try in the future. I have already started testing out communication with a CCD camera through TIA using Python, but not TEM functions.
