COMError during atlas collection

Added by Laura Koepping over 4 years ago

Hi there,

We are having an intermittent problem during atlas collection. After starting up the atlas collection we get these Error messages:

Preset request to “gr” failed, waiting 60 seconds to try again
Move to target failed: unable to set instrument
COMError in_setStagePosition: (-2134114303, None, (u’[X,Y] TrackingLimit ( MemberDisable VoltageResponse | TrackingLimit)’, u”, u”, 0, None))

Additionally, it doesn't start or it stops in the middle of the atlas collection. In the microscope software it doesn't show any errors.

Does anyone know what might be causing this problem or do you know more about the error messages?

Thank you!
Laura

I have never seen this error. From the syntex, this is an error from the compustage having trouble tracking where it has gone to.
All compustage has this mechanism as safety measure to prevent slipping of the motor that may move the device off its shafts.

Because this tracking happens after the move instruction is executed on the stage, it allows the program to move on.
This looks like a hardware issue such as the tracking device power is not at the right level.

Does this happen always at certain part of the grid ? Does the atlas look like it has gone to the right place ?

If you know where on the grid it happens, you will be able to show it to your service engineer.

You can also ask him/her to check lower level log to see if it shows the same error by driving compustage xy in TUI at the same low magnification as when you are acquiring grid atlas. The motor is allowed to move faster at lower magnifications.

Leginon has algorithm to repeat a setPosition instruction 3 times before it declares that the move as failed.

I think your error only happens intermittently which is why it can still acquire the atlas.
