Leginon user must be an administrator of the microscope computer?

The legion start icon is gray for a non-administrator microscope computer user. But our EM manager is reluctant to set up every user as administrator. Is there any other way for this problem? Thanks!

I am not sure what you mean. Leginon is installed on the C drive python25 folder. All users, administrator or not, should have read and execute permission on the files. You don't have to be a particular user to use it just like you don't have to be a particular user to use Tecnai TUI, I don't remember how yours is set up. If the icons you are talking about are on the Desktop of the administrator. They are just aliases (like a symbolic link on Unix) to the files that need to be run from the python folder. You can create these aliases for all other users just as easily. If you are talking about an item in the pull-down list for applications. meaning that an alias was created in a common folder meant to let everyone see it ( and use it), you will need to find where that is and check the property on that alias, make sure that it is pointing to the right file in Leginon and allow all users to execute through the alias. There are many ways to make this happen. You and your EM manager should ask someone experienced with Window's user and application management to come up with a solution.
Installation_on_the_microscope_computer Step 11.-"Create Leginon and Leginon Client shortcut in Start menu menu under Leginon" shows one of the way to do this.
