Targeting drift away after multiple target adjustment
Added by Anchi Cheng over 7 years ago.
Updated almost 7 years ago.
Affected Version:
Appion/Leginon 3.3
Description
This is not very reproducible, but always been seen in queuing and when multiple adjustments are made so that there are many versions of sq images. The exposure targets looks fine in myamiweb, but the image taken from the targets do not appear to follow the adjustment.
It starts happening in 3.3 beta.

792530e7 may have fixed this bug. It is not a problem of target adjustment since webviewer displays the targets correctly after adjustment. The problem is the stage z.
When the user pause within a target list in a node to add more queue through another node that involves a large change in z, and then resume data collection, there was no mechanism to make sure that the z of the remaining targets in the current list get restored. With queue submission, a target adjustment is requested. Therefore, the reacquired parent image as well as remaining targets got the wrong z. When the grid is flat, the autofocus will still work, just require too much shifts and make targeting not accurate.
It is still possible to run into this problem if the user is not queuing and pause and move the stage z. In depth-first traversal, an adjustment of z is valid to the children. There is no way to tell what the user's intention is.
