Bug #971

Beam tit based autofocus does not work well when tilted?
Added by Anchi Cheng about 14 years ago.
Updated about 11 years ago.
Affected Version:
Appion/Leginon 2.0.2
Description
Possible bug. Notice that measureScopeChange in the various functions of calibrationclient.py do not pass in correct_tilt keyword argument. Could this cause problem in RCT focusing? Very likely. Need to try on the scope.
- Subject changed from Beam tit based autofocus does work well when tilted? to Beam tit based autofocus does not work well when tilted?
- Assignee changed from Anchi Cheng to Jim Pulokas
- Priority changed from Normal to Urgent
Finally get to test my change with Arne today since he had problem over the weekend with RCT focusing when tilted. Yes, this bug affects RCT focusing.
The bug has been there for 4 years since r5101 Don't know why it has not caused user screaming all the time. Because only one of the image acquired for beam-tilt based defocus measurement correct for tilt, this can give very bad result at high tilt and IF rotation center saved in the database is very different from the rotation center during the measurement. Maybe the two have not been very different before?
Need to merge into branches.
