Gatan K2 Support and compatibility

Added by Christopher Lilienthal over 11 years ago

Hello,
We currently have leginon on two scopes, but will be receiving a Gatan K2 detector at the end of the month. What version of leginon will be needed to support the K2? We would also like to continue using our conventional Gatan CCD on the other scope, will this be an issue?

We currently have only one remote computer with Leginon installed and I was wondering if there was a way to create aliases for the microscope computer names. The reason for this is that one microscope is name tem-1460-inst01 and the other is tem-1463-inst01 which as you can imagine can be really confusing. I was thinking aliasing one as F20 and the other as T12. Is there some method for doing this in Leginon?

Regarding Leginon version that supports K2. Currently, this is only supported on trunk where we develop. We will stablize it and release as 3.0 in the next 1-2 months.

There should not be any issue using K2 and other Gatan CCD on different scopes.

Computer name seen by Leginon (more generally by python through socket) is determined by the computer full name. You will need to change it under "System Properties" on the scope computer and reboot it. You can check if it is successful using python found in Installation_on_the_microscope_computer under installation section.

Hi Anchi,

Thanks for the response.

The computers on the scopes are members of a domain and according to its naming scheme they will have to stay as they are. I figured there was not a way to do this but figured I'd ask.

Thanks again
