An idea from Wolfgang Lugmayr

we have only 1 gpu card in the leginon/appion pc used for makeddstack.
is it possible/useful to submit in parallel another gpu job?

this means, while the ddstack is waiting for incoming pictures, the gpu can be used for the other programs.
does appion coordinate this or do the jobs wait until the other one is finished?

Looked up in the web. There is compute_exclusive mode that can be set with nvidia-smi that would be useful for this.
