CTF display and control needs work. Let's discuss

Description
I think we need some overhaul of the way we are using, displaying and controlling the ctf functions in Appion.
I have the following suggestions/requests:
- We need to be able to display the results of all the ctf algorithms by run name OR by highest confidence value. Right now we only have highest conf. value which makes it almost impossible to properly compare the outputs of various runs.
- Similarly we need to be able to select which run (or highest confidence value) to apply when correcting ctf. We should keep Ace, ACE2 and ctffind runs separate no mater what as they do different fittings so makes no sense to mix and match them.
- The displays need work. The ctffind one is pretty worthless I think - it is so pixelly that it is hard to know if there is any information content. It is also at a different scale than the fft that can be displayed so can't compare and see what it is fitting. It would be very nice to have the fitted curve of the ctffind overlaid on the data like ACE2 does. WOudl be godo to have this for both defoci vlaues when the image is astigmatic.
- Minor bug - the bin size int he ctffind interface mentions particle picking. And the doc popup is missing or not useful for some of the functions.
I am sure other people have ideas on this. I will ask Amber to make it a topic for discussion at the next Appion meeting.
I couldn't agree more with Bridget's suggestions. BTW, there used to be a CTF summary that came up when you clicked on the info button for a given image in the image viewer. It showed all ace ctf runs, and you could see how they all compared. It would be nice to re-implement that.
yes, we do have a page call imgreport.php. But I can't find the 'info' button to get to that page now. I will update that when I found it.
Thanks.
Eric
imgreport.php is accessed through javascript call from the tool with an "i" on its icon on top of each image in the viewer.
- Status changed from New to In Code Review
r15668 and r15669 implemented the choice for display best results by method. Also changed some wordings in the ctf parameter dialog.
r15670 move acemethod out of aceparam because it does not work on longboard, only work on cronus3 if not changed.
Testing:
- use myamiweb/3wviewer.php?expId=8766 and image 11jun02a_00002ma_0.mrc which has all three ctf estimate method performed.
- try to display different methods in the ACE parameter pop-up in different view.
Anyone can test.
This is not the whole change that Bridget proposed so it might be good to close after testing.
